1. General Eligibility Requirements
- Nominees must have been active within the Arizona country music community during the applicable eligibility period as defined annually by AZDCMA.
- Activity may include, but is not limited to: live performances, recordings, venue operations, DJ services, radio support, industry support, or community involvement.
- Nominees must demonstrate professional conduct, including reliability, ethical behavior, and respectful engagement with artists, venues, fans, and industry partners.
- Nominees must have a positive reputation within the Arizona country music community.
- AZDCMA reserves the right to verify eligibility, request supporting documentation, and disqualify nominees who do not meet stated criteria.
2. Award-Specific Nomination Rules
Premier Categories
Entertainer of the Year
Nomination Requirements:
- Must have performed live in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate consistent excellence in live performance and audience engagement
- Must show measurable impact on the Arizona country music scene
- Must exhibit professional conduct and active promotion of their work
Legacy Award
Nomination Requirements:
- Must have made significant long-term contributions to Arizona’s country music industry
- Contributions may include performance, promotion, venue operation, media, education, or advocacy
- Must demonstrate lasting impact, mentorship, or leadership
- Nominee may be active or retired
- Award may be presented posthumously
Artist Categories
New Female Artist of the Year
Nomination Requirements:
- Must be in the early stages of public performance or release activity
- Must have performed or released music in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate growth in visibility, fan engagement, or bookings
- Must show commitment to artistic development and professionalism
New Male Artist of the Year
Nomination Requirements:
- Must be in the early stages of public performance or release activity
- Must have performed or released music in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate growth in visibility, fan engagement, or bookings
- Must show commitment to artistic development and professionalism
Best Female Artist
Nomination Requirements:
- Must demonstrate consistent vocal and/or performance excellence
- Must have performed in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must exhibit strong stage presence and audience connection
- Must maintain professional standing within the industry
Best Male Artist
Nomination Requirements:
- Must demonstrate consistent vocal and/or performance excellence
- Must have performed in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must exhibit strong stage presence and audience connection

Best Duo of the Year
Nomination Requirements:
- Must consist of two primary performing members who regularly perform together as a recognized act
- Must actively perform in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate strong musical chemistry, cohesion, and audience appeal
- Must exhibit professionalism and consistent promotion of the act
- Both members must contribute meaningfully to the performance and identity of the duo
Best Group of the Year
Nomination Requirements:
- Must consist of three or more members who regularly perform together as a recognized act
- Must actively perform in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate musical cohesion, performance excellence, and overall entertainment value
- Must exhibit professionalism and consistent promotion of the group
- Must maintain a positive reputation within the Arizona country music community
Best Musician
Nomination Requirements:
- Must demonstrate exceptional instrumental skill, musicianship, and musical contribution
- Must have actively performed, recorded, or contributed musically within Arizona during the eligibility period
- May include solo instrumentalists, session musicians, supporting band members, or musicians who perform with multiple acts
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and positive collaboration with artists, venues, and industry partners
- Must maintain a strong professional reputation within the Arizona country music community
Industry / Venue Categories
Best DJ
Nomination Requirements:
- Must be actively performing as a DJ in Arizona during the eligibility period
- Must demonstrate strong crowd engagement and music programming skills
- Must maintain professional presentation and reliability
- Must contribute positively to live events, venues, or festivals
Best Indoor Music Venue
Nomination Requirements:
- Venue must regularly host live country or country-adjacent music
- Must provide professional production standards, including sound and staging
- Must demonstrate fair treatment and support of artists
- Must maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-managed environment
Best Outdoor Music Venue
Nomination Requirements:
- Venue must regularly host outdoor live music events
- Must demonstrate high-quality production and audience experience
- Must support Arizona-based artists
- Must maintain safe and professional operations
Best Radio Station – Small to Medium Market
Nomination Requirements:
- Must actively support country music programming and/or Arizona country artists
- Must demonstrate engagement with the local country music community
- Must maintain a positive industry reputation
Best Radio Station – Large Market
Nomination Requirements:
- Must actively support country music programming and/or Arizona country artists
- Must demonstrate engagement with the local country music community
- Must maintain a positive industry reputation
3. Nomination & Review Process
1. Nominations may be submitted by AZDCMA members, industry professionals, or the public, as defined annually.
2. All nominations are subject to eligibility verification by AZDCMA.
3. AZDCMA reserves the right to determine final nominees and voting procedures.
4. Submission of a nomination does not guarantee placement on the final ballot.
4. Final Authority
All interpretations of these rules, eligibility determinations, and final award decisions rest solely with the Arizona Desert Country Music Association.
